Modify Word's Registry entry to eliminate the "Configuration Process" dialog
Please perform this procedure only if you are using more than one version of Word and only if you are comfortable with using Windows' registry editor.

Start by closing all applications (especially Word)

Open Windows' Registry Editor - (start, run, regedit) or Windows' Circle and then type regedit

Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Options
Note - You will need to repeat this procedure for each version of Word on your computer - the "14.0" example above is for Word 2010.
Word Versions -
16.0 - Word 2016
15.0 - Word 2013
14.0 - Word 2010
12.0 - Word 2007
11.0 - Word 2003
10.0 - Word XP
9.0 - Word 2000

Click Edit, New and add either a DWORD Value or a DWORD (32-bit) Value (depends on your Windows' version)

Name the new DWORD Value NoRereg

Right-Click on the new NoRereg value and select Modify

Change the Hexidecimal Value data to 1

Repeat for each version of Word installed on your computer

Close the Registry Editor
You should no longer need to wait for the Configuration Process dialog when switching between different versions of Word.
